Appa Vitan

This unique looking dog who?s color pattern and markings resemble a cow, is a mix between a Border Collie and a Pit Bull. With the strength coming from her father who is the pit and the intelligence stemming from her mother the Collie, Appa has a special combination of muscle and brains that was a bit too much to handle at first.

Appa came to our home in mid October with my little brother hoping we would keep her, but my mom arguing that she?ll only stay for a week. Little did we all know that we?d fall in love with this well mannered dog. At first, Appa was so small that she could not jump on the bed. She eventually learned how to maneuver empty laundry baskets that have lids and used them as steps to get to her goal. This is one of the many examples that proved that Appa has an intelligence level that needed to be trained. Now weighing at 54 pounds, Appa is not only big enough to jump on the highest bed but also tall enough to reach the dinning room table.

After Appa got all her shots, at 4 months old I took her to puppy training classes. This has helped Appa, as well as myself, learn how to be the alpha and learn how to control what may happen while a dog is growing up. Because of the classes, Appa has learned the basic commands and has learned to be social with other dogs.
Now at 2 years and 9 months, reaching 3 in September, Appa has become the dog we all love and adored. Although, her older brother, a Miniature Pinscher, cannot endure the energetic miniature cow, we all know that he loves her just as much as we all do. Appa has touched all of our hearts, especially mine, and no matter where I go, Appa comes with me too. This includes moving to an apartment in Sacramento to attend Sacramento State University. Appa?s activities include playing tug- of- war with rope, destroying her cow- look- a- like toy that her mother always buys duplicates of, and chasing dogs who are fetching their ball!
