DOGGIE OF THE MONTH!

"Pinky" Sennett

Pinky, a Portuguese Water Dog (PWD), was born Feb. 7, 2010. Owners Dick and Joanie Sennett fell in love with the breed several years ago when attending a dog show. Just like President Obama and his daughter, they too needed a dog that didn't shed and would be easy on Joanie's allergies. After researching the breed they found that their lively personality and affectionate ways would be a perfect fit for them. Pinky is now the fourth PWD they have owned.

PWD's are great companion dogs, very playful, and sometimes a little mischievous. One of Pinky's favorite past times at home is "counter surfing". Nothing food related is safe near an edge of the counters or table, so Dick and Joanie have trained themselves and their guests to never leave anything "tasty" on a ledge!

For centuries, Portuguese Water Dogs have lived on the boats of Portuguese fishermen. They are very athletic, able swimmers and are taught by the fishermen to bring back fish that escape the fishing nets. Pinky is using all of these skills as she currently trains in agility and she has also just started the certification process to become a therapy dog.

We have had the pleasure of grooming Pinky since she was just a pup. She absolutely loves the "beautification" process, even learning on her own to lay on her back and turn over to make sure we don't miss a spot. Her prance around the shop to show off how good she looks after grooming has earned her the nickname "Miss Pinky Poo" or just "Ms.Poo" by the staff at Rub-A-Dub.
