My experience in having my big goldendoodle, Shiloh, bathed and groomed at Rub-a-Dub has been a big relief for me after having bad luck at another grooming shop. He comes home looking like a show dog! Shiloh absolutely loves going every 6 weeks, he runs to the door and greets Pat and Tony and their staff like old friends.
Rub-A-Dub Dog Bath first opened in 1992 by then owner Jeannie Woodside. Jeannie had the foresight to see that people would be open to the idea of coming to a place where bathing their pet was made more convenient for the owner. By offering raised tubs with ramps, warm water, shampoo, towels and blow dryers the customer was able to eliminate the hassle of washing their pet at home. The key selling point being that the customer could also leave their mess and the cleanup would be done for them.

Jeannie’s idea was ahead of it’s time and to this day, Rub-A-Dub Dog Bath is the ONLY grooming business in Vallejo offering self service facilities to it’s clients.
On Jan 1st 2004 Rub-A-Dub Dog Bath was purchased by the brother and sister team of Patricia Koch and Tony Howard. Pat and Tony were attracted to several things about the business; established clientele, length of time it had been open and it’s location. They knew the business was a great idea especially since their family dogs had been Rub-A-Dub self service clients for several years. Tony also frequented a similar self service business (Launder Dog) with his black lab Jordan while living in Sacramento and loved the convenience and atmosphere.
Before and after purchasing Rub-A-Dub, Pat and Tony took it upon themselves to dive into the world of grooming and educate themselves on every aspect of the business by training with the previous owner, attending seminars, and completing the certification process for dog grooming at Madaleine’s Institute in Santa Clara.
Pat and Tony also saw the opportunity to utilize their experiences from working in corporate America (Pat for Pixar and Tony for Hewlett Packard) and offer high level of quality and customer satisfaction to existing and new clientele.
Meet Our Staff!
Wen-Li with Junior Perry
Wen-Li has been a member of the Rub-A-Dub family since 2006. Wen-Li was born and raised in China and worked for several years as a flight attendent before moving to the Bay Area and receiving her grooming certification at Madeline's Pet Institute in Santa Clara. She is an extremely talented groomer and is our "in house" cat specialist (she owns five of her own!).
She is
currently working on her accounting degree at Golden Gate University.
Victoria a part-time shop assistant, is currently attending Napa Valley JC to pursue a degree in photography.

Nikole also completed her dog grooming certification at Madeline's Pet Grooming Institute and joined our staff earlier this year as a full time groomer.
Marilyn (with her dog Appa): is our newest member to the Rub-A-Dub family as a part time shop assistant. Marilyn is currently attending Diablo Valley College to pursue a degree in Child Therapy/Development.
